Title: Pinto Doors
Post by: Tgriffin on September 05, 2007, 11:46:12 PM
I have a pair of NOS Pinto doors that I would be interested in selling but I have no idea what year of model they are from. One of them has the number D8FZ 7320125-A but I can't find any info on that number. Anyone have a suggestion on how to find out what they fit?

Thanks

They appear to be late 77 to 80 Wagon doors (how tall is the rear of the window frame?). The '78' part numbers were used for LATE 77's. The only difference I know of from the 'normall' 77 is the upper mount for the door pull, but with minor work they can be interchanged. The even older doors have a different upper hinge, but should fit with the hinge made for the 'door' you use.

Hello Tgriffin,
Yes your Pinto doors are definately for a wagon.
The first 2 diggits R-4 Viehicle ID.
A 62 would be a sedan Pinto
A 64 would be a Hatchbsck and
A 73 Is 4 the Pinto wagon.
Nice Job Bill!!!

Thanks guys, that's a big help. I suspected they were from a wagon but had no idea about the year. I'll measure the frame height tonight.

The window frame is 16 5/8" high the entire length of the door. According to what I've read, only the wagon doors have a frame that is straight across, on the other body styles the frame tapers at the rear.
