Title: Pinto VS. Mustang II Wheels Question
Post by: 77turbopinto on September 04, 2007, 11:07:48 AM
I have heard a few times that Mustang II's had 5.5" wide Rallye and alum. sloted rims, where Pintos were 5".

Is there any truth to this?

Years ago, I bought some slotted mags from a local Mustang II guy and he made mention of the same thing.  I have never seen any though.

I am asking because I have a bunch of the steel rallyes and they are all 5" wide, but I just got a set of the alum. slotted and they are 5.5" wide.

Anyone out there with 'Pinto' alum. slotteds that know how wide they are?

The ones I put on my 76 Mustang II were straight off of a 77 CW (3 of 4 sporting the correct Pinto center emblem), and they are 13x5.5.  Of course there is no guarantee that someone didn't change them out.  I also have an oddball 13x5.5 I pulled off of an early 80s Escort.  I could've grabbed all four (hindsight), but I just wanted the best of them for a spare tire. It is different from the Pinto's as the black stripe is wider, and the center cap screws went right into the aluminum instead of into plastic inserts.
