Title: Clutch cable needed!!
Post by: 69GT on August 25, 2007, 02:43:13 AM
My 72 4-speed Pinto broke its second clutch cable. The second was a 71 cable from the junk yard. Where do I get a replacement? Ebay has 73 and up cables last I looked. Where are the early ones?

Thanks...

When I installed a T-5 in my 73 Runabout, I had to elongate the cable in mine.

I took it to a local marina that had the tooling to make steering cables. They added about two and a half inches on mine using new cable.

If the housing on yours is OK you might be able to do the same using the original length.

If you don't live near water, look for a facility that repairs electric hoists or overhead cranes and the wire cable that goes into them. They may be able to fix you up.

Hope this helps.

Have seen this question before...

you buy the cable for the 74 and up and then swap ends with your current cable to mount to 71, 72 and 73 cars.
