Title: Interior Material
Post by: 77pintocw on August 22, 2007, 08:42:27 PM
Hi Folks:

I recently contacted SMS Auto Fabrics out of Canby OR.  I had them send
me some samples of cloth fabric, vinyl, carpet and headliner materials for
my 1977 Pinto CW.  I have attached two pictures of the information they
sent me.  The first picture shows the style of the door panels and seats
that are in my Pinto.  The second picture shows the material samples
and price for each.  I have to say that the samples they sent me are
exact matches in color, style and material quality of the original materials
that are in my Pinto.  I am impressed so far with this company.  I plan on
ordering the material and will let you know what happens.

The company information is given in second picture.

Thanks for the info! Canby is about a 15 mile drive away from where I live.  Next time I am out that way, I will stop by the place.  One up for you!

Hey TIGGER:

That would be great if you could stop by the shop.  That would give all of us an idea
about the kind of people we would be dealing with.  Also, when you go could
you check out the quality of their door panels?  They make door panels so
it would be nice to know what kind of job they do.

Thanks!

I received my samples from these guys today and must say the samples almost made me soil myself!  Tigger did you ever get by there?  This appears to be an unkown until now supplier of the real deal stuff.

No I have not made it over there.  I have too much going on at the moment.  If this is the same company I am thinking of, they used to be located in downtown Portland.  My neighbor, who's business is auto interiors, told me about a company years ago that carried about every type of automotive material ever made.  My friend bought the original material for his 56 Ford Ranch Wagon from them and it was an exact match.  The Canby swapmeet is coming up soon in about 3-4 weeks.  That will be my excuse to visit this place.

I sent a request for samples about two weeks ago and haven't seen anything yet. How long does it generally take to get these?

Hey dave1987:

If I remember correctly, it took mine somewhere between 4-6 weeks.

Thanks,

I got my samples just a few days ago. I asked for four different samples and received two vinyl ones and two fabric ones. I don't need the fabric ones, but the two vinyl ones are exactly what I need.

The only problem is, I do not know what the center material for my seats is technically called, so I do not know how to differentiate the two vinyl samples I received.
