Title: Dilemma! Big Decision!
Post by: Ford_Pinto on August 18, 2007, 08:45:50 PM
Alright, for a little background, I'm not wealthy, and seem to have an addiction for weird cars.  I'm 19, paying for all my cars, insurance, college...everything but my parents home...haha.  We live in a trailer park, so no garage.

I work a lot, obviously, thus leaving me with very little time, plus I'm going to college, leaving even less time.  Here's the dilemma: I keep getting really good offers.  My first car was my 79' Pinto.  Now, I have that, an 88' Merkur XR4Ti, an 87' Toyota Corolla GT-S FX16, an 85' Honda Prelude that this guy (who's now in jail) destroyed, a 77' Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser station wagon, and I just today bought an 87' Thunderbird TurboCoupe with a near perfect body, 99% rust free.  Believe it or not, They are all in beautiful shape and I've managed not to pay over $850 for any of them.  I guess this is really the dilemma, I need to sell something, but don't know what.

I just bought the wagon off my brother with plans of selling it.  That's the intention I've had with most of my cars, but ended up falling in love (the Merkur in particular).  The wagon has the Rocket 350 w/Turbo 400 trans.  Only 138K.  I just put a brand new Edelbrock carb on it and she fired up first try after sitting 3 years and is still running like a dream.  So I'm in love...lol.  The Thunderbird I just bought about an hour ago, but you just don't find them like this anymore.  The body is straight, and the previous owner dragged it, so he managed to cut out 850 lbs.w/out compromising stability, or taking anything from the interior.  It has a B&M shifter, an expensive Holley fuel regulator w/custom one piece steel fuel line, custom manual steering rack (for weight) long tube headers, and of course they have the Fox body Mustang chassis and the adjustable air ride suspension.  Not only that, but the engine (currently out and halfway through a rebuild) is a 302 from a Crown Vic and already has the double sump oil pan.  The tranny is a repainted C4.  Get this...I felt like I was robbing them.  The guy needed money for his Jeep and his dad made him sell this so I paid $350 for everything.

I could go on for hours, so I'm just going to stop now.  I'm definitely not selling the Pinto, and the Corolla is my fun little 124 hp gas saver that keeps miles off of the Pinto, so there's no way I could sell it either.  But I can't let everything fill up our yard, especially w/out being covered.  Thank God my dad hasn't killed me yet. Haha...so anyway, I just need to know what you think I should get rid of, or if maybe someone is interested in something.  If you send me a PM, I'll give you more details than you want about any of them.

Thanks for everyones help!  This website is amazing.

Let's see....combine the Pinto & Merkur for a hot lil Turbo Pinto.
Get a torch & a welder to put the 350 into the Prelude.
Store the T-Bird as it'll gain in value.
Drive the wheels off the 'Yota! WOOT!! twincam joy!!
Recycle the leftover shells & do the planet some good.

Just kidding, I wish I had your problem, but I do well to keep 2 of 3 cars running.

Haha...to the first reply, sorry...but I'm already in love with the wagon.

For the second...I like your creativity.  Haha...350 in the Prelude.  I'm almost positive I'd die.  I actually bought the Merkur to make a Turbo Pinto, but after putting about $500 in the engine, it still needs work.  I need valve seals because it's spraying oil onto my spark plugs shorting them out.  You think the T-bird will gain in value?

Thanks for your input.
