Ok. I have a 72 2.0L 4-Speed trunk model Pinto. It has the stock puny rear end in it. I also have an 8" rear end out of an unknown year Pinto leaf springs attached and all sitting in my garage. My questions are; Will it bolt in? Will the driveline with the right U joints work or is it too long/short? What gear ratios did those 8" rears have when in a Pinto? I think I have 3.55s in the stock rear.
I might drop in a modded 2.3 5-Speed combo later. So the 8" and its easy gear changes and strength makes sense.
Thanks...
Y would you want to take out a German engine and put in an engine made in
Lima Ohio??????

P.S. the 8 you have should fit and the T5 is easyer in the early Pinto as the cross member is not in the way when you use the bell-crank bell house.
Hey the 2.3 is a great motor when you poke it with the right stick :) I have played with them before In turbo form (Had a modded SVO). The availability of big hydrolic roller (And Solid) cams and good cheap parts plus the 18 cubes look mighty nice. But hey I love the 2.0 too. I spent a good portion of last year looking for a DOHC 2.0 head that a friend of a friend might have for sale. Waste of time :(
Thanks...
