Title: Turbo EFI Fuel Hookup?
Post by: 77turbowagon on July 30, 2007, 10:27:52 AM
What have you turbo guys done to connect the Pinto fuel line to the 2.3L turbo EFI line? The merkur engine is coming out in a few days to be put into the '77 Wagon. I got all the wiring figued out last night so we're on a roll. I'm sure there are a few more little minor things to contend with but I'll deal with those but for right now I'm just wondering what you guys did and used to connect the old and the new fuel lines. I know I'll have to upgrade the old rubber lines to fuel injection capable lines. Thanks for any help that can be given.

This is what I did on my first Project Pinto (my second one also, but it's not on the road yet), where the rubber line goes down to the steel line (on my donor car) I cut the steel line leaving quite a bit of extra Steel line. I then put a double flair on the line with the correct fitting. I then just put new Steel line on my Pinto connecting it to the "Remenance" of the Steel line from my donor car and just used a Female Union to connect the two lines.

So you went metal line all the way to the pressure regulator?

No, I did metal line to the Rubber Hose that connect to the Fuel Rail/Regulator and metal line to the Rubber Hose that's connected for the Return Line. I never even need to remove the plastic clips, either side.

Simple, cheap and easy!
The right way to go in my opinion.
