I'll be doing the exact same thing to my 78 Sedan. Glad to see proof it works!

I got it on ebay from this seller azbob*1
his was least expensive  with shipping , he had a buy it now  with no handling fee, just have to watch. I did try to bid on one but it went for more after shipping and handling charges. also it only comes in black so i painted mine, vinyl paint base  then color match main coat. The true test was the show today judged ans was not questioned about it being a replacement.
It was a little tight on the passanger side so i did  trim the vinyl off  and then it fit like a glove. i did several test fits first  working the cracks of the old dash  even. time  wise it took about an hour ti prep the dash to where i was happy  and  half hour to  put it in with the proper pressure points to set it tight.

JTLYK: I get my dash caps from Mustangs Unlimited. Better price than all I have seen on ebay, and no shipping (for me anyway, they are 4 miles from my place).

Looks great Phil!

I have only seen two cars with the radio delete.

WOW!!!
It is hard to believe that a Mercury, Bobcat with the delux dash did not have a radio.
SUX to be you!!!

I got my Purple Pinto running yesterday and I cranked the stereo just so I could get that "Get your motor running" "Head out on the highway" feeling AGAIN!!!
The green Pinto has an AM radio only and IT SUX!
I'm planning a stealth System in the yellow Pinto.

Pintony, it is even harder to believe you have seen the car twice and did not notice the lack of an antenna  ;D
just bustin ya.
Actually it has  factory ac,  Power steering and a Posi rearend.  Radio must have been to much  for the budget.

To install one of these caps you remove the current cap and install the new in its' place, correct? It doesn't fit over the existing one, right? Cause boy do I need one, or two...

it's a cap and fits over the old one. I should be installing mine tonight. I will trim the bumps around the cap for a better/smooth fit and looks to glue on with silicone.

I hope you will take some pictures.  It is obvious that more than a few will need to do this.  Any hints along the way would be useful.
thanks

Cookieboy,
You are exactly right just fits over the existing one. Trim and test fit , trim and test fit, trim and test fit ....... then when you are satisfied  clean dash and cap  throughly( i used rubbing alchol). then apply silocone and apply pressure with paper and wood blocks  it said to let set 4 hrs, but i let it set over night. If possible leave windows open  the silicone  has an oder.

Outstanding just outstanding... a job well done.  How big is that file?  I couldn't figure out how to down load it.  Any possibility to get it stored on sit here?  If not I would love to have it.
