Title: Accelerator Pump screws
Post by: dave1987 on July 12, 2007, 02:03:40 PM
The on the bottom accelerator pump screw holes are stripped on my Holley 5200. Can I fix this instead of getting a new carb? Can I just re-tap the holes and put slightly larger screws in? It leaks a little, but not horribly out the bottom seal for the pump.

Sure you can tap it. You may get by with a nearly same diameter, but in an SAE thread, as they are metric in the 5200

I've collected screws from several things I've disassembled in the past. I happened to have four longer screws of the same thread pitch which worked just fine. no more gas leak!
