Title: gas issue

 Hey all

I have a 1979 Hatchback all orginal but heres my issue when it hits 1/4 of a tank its like it runs out of gas but there still gas in the tank is it possiable that i may have a pin out in the pick up tube. any suggestions

It could be one of a few things.

The guage could be reading 1/4 when it is really empty (how much gas will it take to fill it when it does this?). The sendng unit arm could be bent or rotted. The pick-up pipe could be bent or rotted.

 ok yesterday when i put gas in it. it was almost on the 1/4 line and i put 15.00 in it at like 2.9? a gallon and it put it on the full mark but not completely full

Well if thats the case you put 5.156 gal. in the car. Whats your fuel capacity.....alot more than 5 gal. I'd bet!  ;D
That would make me think there is something wrong with you fuel pick-up tube. I know in another post somewere on this site there's some info about what sending units you can use OR see if you can repair your current one.
