Well, the seller in Ohio just finally sent me the title to my "new" 1978 Pinto that I got about a month and a half ago. I took it to the shop for its first field trip and had new tires put on, a set of shocks, some sort of steering gizmo replaced (the steering was real loose), a set of brakes all around, and an oil change/lube/filter (they "forgot to do the oil change, lube and filter). The next day, I took my little horse to work about 35 miles away. It did 70MPH all the way there with no problem. Since it was a slow day at work (I'm a firefighter) I decided to wax her. She spruced up quite well - I just had to becareful not to wax the rust spots. Here are some photos. Next up will be to have new panels welded in where the floorboards used to be, then a new exhaust system, and then I can start making her pretty. I've got my work and wallet's work cut out for me but it'll be fun.

I like it. Good luck with your little pony, and have fun with her!

Looks like a Hawaian Pinto to me???
just missing the hula girls in the background ;)
nice car Mike.
Nope, no hula girls here. The picture was taken next door to the fire station where I work in a very poor minority town. This particular spot is the only pretty spot in the whole town. Trust me - you wouldn't want any of the girls from around here posing in the picture. They're nothing like the Hooters babes in the other post.
Thats a looking Pinto, how much rust does it have?

Turbo,
It's got quite a bit of rust on it but now real dents. The doors and the lower panels all have rust as does the rear hatch, door jambs and both front floorboards. The exhaust system is all rusted out and that's my next project to tackle. After that, I'll find someone to weld some sheetmetal to the floor so I can recarpet it. Both doors sag a bit and need to be adjusted as well before the new carpet goes in. I drove it all day today and had a ball doing it. All kinds of looks and comments from others on the road.

Well i guess that is one good thing about the Brown color, it hides the rust in pics. There is a couple of posts on this site elsewere that talk about floor pans. :search: I've had to replace them on both of my Pinto projects, my first one alot more than my second. It seems that is a problem with these "Classic" cars.
One thing about the Pinto......they just aren't seen very much anymore and when someone sees one it catches there eyes. That is only one of the many reasons "I Love My Pinto". In my area there is only a couple which is one way to stand out, and I love it! ;D
