I have a t-5 from an 86 turbo coupe complete with bellhousing. Since the clutch just went out on my 79 wagon, I was wondering if anyone has done the 5-spd swap on a stock 2.3L? What are the difficult parts of the conversion? My major concern is the transmission tunnel opening. Does it have to be modified on a stock 2.3L car or not? I have heard both yes and no. I know on my 73, the opening had to be modifed but also the car was not originally equiped with a 2.3. My friend fabricated the motor mounts so I am not surprised that the shifter did not align 100%. Any comments would be appreciated.
