Title: Dimensions
Post by: Chris on April 26, 2004, 03:43:22 PM
a while back there was a topic about the measurments of the rear end on the pinto, but i cant find it. My question is what are the dimensions of the rear end, and what known 8" and 9" rrear ends will fit without having to shorten them? Thanks.

a nine inch from a 57-59 ford car will fit. bolt right in only 1/2 inch wider.

i put a rear axle from a 78 lincoln versailles in mine.  Finished last weekend.  No shortening or mounting issues.  I think it was like 58 1/2 flange to flange and a pinto is like maybe 58 -7?

www.iblowup.net (go to photo's)

77 - 80?1 work all the same... they've got RW disc ford 9" 5 lug ect...

a mustang II 8" will work perfect (4 lug drum) cheap too.

i've heard a lot of others, but you might need to make your own perches.

I have a 7.5 out of an 82 mustang in my Bobcat.  Had to cut off 4 link mounts and add spring perches from the 6.75.
