Hey Mark
I have one sittin in my lap rite now,and lookin at it you would need to remove the rotor from the shaft.Next there is an e clip located on the plate opposite the pickup remove this, remove the screw retaining the wires and lift it off.Thats all there is to it.The pickup is not meant to be removed, the hat clips would be impossible to get not to mention the tool to install them.Let me know if this is what you needed to know,I'll check back soon.    Doc.

So this is not something I am supposed to be able to do by myself? Looks like I may be in trouble. The wires going to the connector look pretty bad and i know that you can get replacement stators at Checkers. I will see if i can get it back together

I got it to running again but  rough. It has a backfire now. It almost sounds like a plug is crossed or not firing. is there a trick to setting the timing? The Chiltos manual I have is pretty useless.I am going to work on it later when it cools off outside

I may have to take you up on the distributor if i cant get this one going
