Title: 2.0 rear end
Post by: braincable on June 13, 2007, 12:12:48 AM
I have a 72 pinto 2.0 with a 4bbl. header, c4 trans and an 8" rear end. I was wondering what gear ratio would be good in the rear for street and cruise night driving conditions. by the way if anyone knows the stock ratio in the 8" please let me know.
  thanks, Brian

Sounds like a nicely warmed over Pinto.  I do not believe the 8" rear end was a stock item in 72 so the gear would not be stock.  In my 71 2.0L, I used a 3.5 something gear and it had good street manners (good take off while not buzzing too much at highway speeds).  The tire size you use will also affect your gear choice.  The amount of engine buzzing at highway speeds that you can tolerate is a personal preference and every one has a valid opinion.
