Title: 2.3 manual to c3 use same dust cover?
Post by: huckster on June 06, 2007, 11:40:48 AM
Hi, switching over to a auto from a 4 speed on my 1979 2.3l. I'm kinda flying blind here and hate to pull tranys for silly mistakes, so do i use the same dust cover (the thin tin plate between starter and bellhousing) or does the c3 have a smaller unit that just covers the starter mounting area? thanks, Steve

Based on the parts that I have, both of the dust shields will physically bolt up.  The auto dust shield does have a small removable access cover at the bottom for getting to the flex plate to converter bolts and the converter drain plug.  I suspect you could modify the manual dust cover to add this feature.
