I' m thinking of putting a 2300cc Pinto engine and manual trans. in my '76 Datsun 620 pickup. I' ve always liked this engine, and have seen them do well in circle- track mini stocks on dirt and asphalt. Has anyone done this particular swap, and how hard could it be? I managed to put a Buick V-6 in my first Datsun truck (a '70 521)with good results(instant tire smoke)once I got the cooling problems worked out. What is the difference, sizewise, between the Pinto engine and the L20B I' d be pulling out? Do you think it would fit? I' ve seen them in Courier(Mazda)pickups from the factory.

Below is a link that has photos of a 2.3 turbo installed in a Datsun roadster. Tight fit in roadster. The pickup should have more room.
