I finally got back out to the Bobcat today and replaced the rotor, distributor cap, plug wires, alternator and voltage regulator. I'm having a problem in that the plug wires seem way over length and the back of the alternator seems awfully close to the distributor. Both of these items are supposed to be for the 2.3L engine, but I just don't know. There was only one other alternator available and it wasn't the right kind for my car. Is there a problem if the plug wires are over length, other than asthetics? I seem to recall that you would want your wires to be as short as practical...am I wrong about this and do I need to swap these things out? Any hints on experience with the alternator would be appreciated. Thanks.
FlyerPinto,
I've never bought a set of spark plug wires that fit perfectly or even the same as the old ones. I have always had to taylor them to fit the best way. As far as the alternater is concerned if you bought one like the old one then it should fit the same unless you are doing something different. I always take my old part in for an exact matchup. well......unless I'm in the mod. mode.
