Title: PINTO information needed
Post by: JB on April 14, 2004, 12:27:09 PM
HI,
I am new here and am looking for information. My first car was a pinto station wagon.Since then I have owned a lot of gas guzzling muscle cars and streetrods.I still have a 1927 ford with a monster chevy engine.
I have recently decided that I want to get an american classic car to use as a daily driver. But want one that gets fair mileage.
I am thinking of a pinto station wagon with the 4cyl engine. But I have a few questions since I have not owned one in 24 years.
What kind of gas mileage do they get?
Are repair parts still available for these cars?
Are there any other information that I should know about pintos?
thanks

well, my 78 cruisiing wagon gets around 18 miles per gallon.
if you cant find a certain part for it in an autostore, ebay will most likely have it.

I own a '74 Runabout 2.3 auto trans. I get around 25-30mpg on a 30mi one way daily commute. The car has been dead reliable for the last 3 years. I have yet to have a (mechanical) part I can't find at my local Advance or Auto Zone. The stuff you CAN'T find in the parts stores are trim, & that kind of thing. Overall I'm plenty happy with my "Lil Horse". She's been a truly noble steed.

You can still get parts no problem. Nowadays, sometimes I have to wait for the part to arrive. Used to be just about any part was always in stock.
