Title: Collector Car Insurance???
Post by: unmarkedcarr on May 10, 2007, 08:16:58 AM
Hey y'all.  I'm new to this collector car stuff and have just bought a 1978 Runabout.  I checked with my regular insurance agent and found the price of insuring me to drive this little car was kinda outrageous.  So, where do you guys insure your Pintos?  Got any idea on prices and so forth?  Thanks for any help you can give.

Mark,
My insurance is a rider with my regular insurance. It is through A.C. Taylor, but there are a lot of restriction on the car. The price is less than $70 per year for full coverage.

Mine is insured through Hagerty. There are mileage restrictions and so forth. I also have an agreed valuation, if it gets munched :accident: I will get a check. $124 per year.

What are some of the restrections, such as how many miles can you put on in a year

We pay less than $300. a year with Grundy, for all three Pintos. We have mileage limits, but not an "amount", just WHERE we can drive them; we can't drive them to and from work, shopping, errands.....

Mine is the same way. I can't drive it to work or to do the weekly grocery shopping. Pleasure driving, such as cruises or a trip to the burger joint and maintenance are okay.
