Title: 2000cc book
Post by: Angelking on May 09, 2007, 08:23:25 AM
Getting ready to rebuild a 2000cc motor from a 1974 Pinto.  Can someone recommend a good book for this project? I am rebuilding it stock, but if the book has hop-up tips, that would be good also.

Thanks

AK

You will need to research the pages on this site.
E-Bay has service manuals, (although I would avoid Haynes), still available. There is one book, "Peterson's Book On Pinto's", that has a section on Hi Po parts that shows up from time to time.
The trouble is that 2000 Hi Po parts are increasingly hard to find.

For a stock rebuild, the factory manuals are good and come up on ebay frequently and at a reasonable price (see example below).

For hop-up tips, I like book "how to rebuild your 1.3, 1.6 & 2.0 OHC FORD" by David Vizard.

David Vizard also has a later version "How to modify Ford SOHC engine" book which I heard is similar to the above with some updates.

As for hop-up parts the companies below still supply some parts.  I believe the 2000 is still used in SCCA racing, so there probably are other suppliers out there too.

Guess I meant all the dress up stuff in the back of the Peterson book.
Sorry.

Thanks guys, I finally found a Pinto with all the parts I needed. Was able to obtain a 2000cc engine and all the rest of the running gear.

And thanks old kayaker, I am searching through ebay now.
