Dont know if this is much help but I got a T-5, bell and flywheel from an 86 mustang 2.3 turbo and it bolted in but I had to re-work the cross member for the transmission mount.
I cut the old mount pad off the cross member and welded a 1/4" flat plate with slotted holes. ease to do if you have a welder
For the 2.3 (you didn't state which engine other than "V-8" ??? ) most use the bell crank style. Don''t even consider the 87-88 Turbo Coupe housing as it is hydraulic and not readily adaptable.
Reversing the crossmember and slotting the bolt holes will work (especially if you don't have welding capabilities). See picture.
Also included (picture) is a bracket I made to better position the clutch cable when used with the "bell crank" bellhousing. I did weld an anti rotate tab on incase the bolt came loose. It bolts to the original hole and elevates the cable over the crossmember. The arm on the bell crank need to be bent slightly outward.
