Title: Me, my pinto the story and then the ?
Post by: pintoches on April 14, 2007, 11:01:04 AM

well I got my first pinto back in 2001 when i was 16or 17 drove it for about six mouthes the 2.3 went capult i decided to do a full resore. so i took the hole car apart, big mistake. after tinking my car was a lost cause and having to move out on my own i sold the car for pennies.ever since i have wanted aunther pinto. i have owned many old ford trucks since then I have 3 right now.
last year i got in a accident totaling my best truck I got the pay off this spring i when i had all my money i came across the pinto it is a 72 pinto wagon with a 2.0 i fell in love even be for we pulled the tarps off it in his Field
well he told me he had some parts to go with it and he wanted $1200. for it all. i talked him down to 1100. and bought it
I got the car and a 2.3 ,new carb, header, offenhoser intake, some mustang two wheels and some small stuff.

well every one says i paid to much for the pinto and i should have got a better car thin that some thing i could drive every day.

I want to put a 302 in the pinto but don't have a lot of money left
i put the new intake and carb on the 2.0 but the header dose not fit right.
it looks like the 2.0 might be leaking oil out the head gaskit i had the head set but i took it back for the money to put gas in my truck.

should i v8 it, or work on the 2.0 and drive it
hopefly my woman's car will be fixed soon

I have no dought that i can do the work on the car

Pintoches,
Fix the 2.0 and drive it.

Fix the 2.0 or swap out to a 2.3
inexpensive, no custom parts needed, ok fuel economy...
V8 in general will drink a lil more gas and cost a bit more to do.

Now this is JMO but what I would do is get the little 2.0 going as cheap as you can no hipo parts, no chrome dudads and just drive it, enjoy it. Then one winter find yourself a donor car with a 2.3 turbo, Merkur, Turbo Coupe, Mustang Turbo, or as a last resort a WRECKED SVO. The best car being a Merkur XR4Ti then pull the Motor Computer and Computer Harness out of it to use. Try to sell anything else you can off of it to make your money spent on the Donor Car back. Then start to do a 2.3 Turbo swap in the Car. It will wake that little Pinto right up and you can still make it a DD with great fuel economy, and still kick some a$$ on the ricer scene. It is best when you dust a car and they think you have a V-8 in it....then you open your hood and there jaw hits the ground! I know I've done this numerous times and I still love it eveytime, it never gets old.

Like I said earlier this is just my opinion so please don't crucify me guy's.

Having you butt kicked by a Pinto with anything in it is a jaw dropper. I did the easiest conversion which was a 302/c4 into a v6 car an it still ran me 2000 and I did all my own fabrication. I,m hearing some good advice here.
