Title: MII hedman headers work well?
Post by: gearhead440 on March 26, 2007, 11:53:27 AM
Jegs has MII 302 Hedman Headers listed for $140.  Does anyone have experience with these in a Pinto and is there a lot of creative fabrication required to use them?  I'll be running a 302 with T5, BTW.
Thanks

I'm using MII headers with my 302 w/ C4. They are tight, and are a little tricky to install, but they do work.

Mr. Pinto,
Thanks for the reply!  Since the do fit in the bay, is there any cutting required to make them work under the chassis and is ground clearance a problem?  I would like to use them but it they scrub the ground regularly or bang every time you go over a speed bump I wont be able to use them and will just use manifolds.
Thanks again.

No cutting ,but I did put a few tiny dents here and there around the rag joint part of the column. I also modded my engine bay a little for "extra" clearance (smoothed out the high part over the control arms), but it's not absolutely necessary.

I also install them bolted to the engine, as one unit.

Never bottomed them out or hit anything with them.

Take your time, you'll get them in there! ;)

Mr. Pinto,
Thanks for the advice and info ;D.  Looks like the headers are a go.  I suppose I could attempt to install the engine/trans and headers as a unit.  High_Horse has some good pics of his install with exhaust manifolds and head pipes and your testimonial of fit adds a level of confidence to the project.   8)
