Title: New carpet install - padding and manufacturer
Post by: gearhead440 on March 26, 2007, 08:04:55 AM
I need to install new carpet in my 80 and was curious if kits come with padding or if I have to get that separately.  Also, does anyone recommend a particular manufacturer?
Thanks

GearHead440,
I got mine from stockinteriors.com 130 shipped. CookieBoy had a question about the fit over the transtunnel you might want to ask him what he is doing about it. I used mine as was. I think what they did was mold the carpet with heat apdding attatched to it as opposed to padding it afterward. As I installed my own padding I ripped there peice off but it may had taken up space in the mold process. And to boot I think I ordered it with no padding. Oh well, things to check out.

I haven't installed mine yet... be a few weeks before I get to tackle the carpet. I'm sure it will fit once I get started.
