I have an adjustable cam gear and I am not sure how to put it on and set it right. Any suggestions? Its a Racer Walsh if that matters.
If I remember right, RW has 2-3 adjustable gears.
If its the keyway indexed gear, then you find the position you want and slide it on.
If its the slotted adjustable one, then it should have index marks... and a 0 mark.
Set it at 0 and install it like a normal gear. you loosen the pinch bolts and move it slightly till the degree of advance or retard you are wanting is indicated. Tighten the bots back down and see how you like the new setting.
I like the non slotted/keyed index gear and the 5 bolt adjustables... with my preferance being for the keyed index.

What I am trying to find out is what the desired setting is with all the guys here that have these. I want to make the best hp with 17psi. What are your settings? Here is a pic of what I got.
