Hey,
I found an old 1978 ford pinto out in the woods. It has major problems (the hole back end is smashed down, and needs some inside work done, but the engine is in GREAT conditidon !) Please id any one, has ever restored a pinto befor and can give me some advise ! (post pictures of what yours looked like befor and how it looked after it was all done !
Thank you for your help !
Hi, I'm currently restoring a 1973 that just had rust in the rear...
There is no place to buy new metal and if you are lucky (like me) with a lot of looking and phone calls and lot's of money you may be able to find replacements. There is no after market really when it comes to body and interior pieces... it's all used or a very hard find for new stuff
If it's all smashed up.... pull the motor and save/use it if you must but find a car in good shape and restore it. Don't fix something that has the kind of damage you described.
If I had to do it over again I would find a rust free car, pay the $$$ for it and then I would have been much better off. Cost was far to high on the restore because I fixed vs. finding better to start with.
