Title: Headers
Post by: PinkPintoRacer on March 18, 2007, 10:08:45 PM
Just a question... I cant afford to put an aftermarket header on to my stock 2.3 (1974), would a header from a Ranger be better than the stock FOMOCO?

Jegs has the cheapest headers ive seen 140 bucks.  I know you said you didnt have the money but its probably going to be hard to find a ranger header.  We were looking for one and couldnt find one.

I see Ranger 2.3 headers, and Pinto 2.0, available regularly on eBay.

NO!

The cast iron exhaust manifold flows better than the Ranger so call header. Look at a Ranger header and it is choked down. They went to the tube to save money and not for performance.

There's tons of headers out there at swap meets or eBay!

Or check out www.powerbyace.com custom hand made headers!

I just upgraded to a Shoenfield 1 3/4 Header, I have the Hedman Header I took off my SCCA racer.  I'd part with it for $75 + shipping if your interested.  Its nickle plated with an O2 sensor bung welded into the collector.  Nothing wrong with it just not letting the engine breathe very well above 5500 RPM.
