Title: V8 radiator
Post by: 2.3stangii on March 16, 2007, 04:28:15 PM
Hello all, I just put a 302 in my 74 mustang and i need to know what v8 radiator will fit without cutting the core support, except the v8 mustang ii radiator which is to expensive and a little to wide for a 74 without cutting something. I know this is not a pinto question but the 74 mustang engine compartment is almost identical to my 78 pinto which will have a v8 in the future and i will have the same problem with it.
Thank you for your time.

I know a few people using VW Scirocco rads in their V8 Pintos. They make them in aluminum race versions too. Very small rad. Something like 21" wide by 13 1/2" high.

BE COOL manufactures aluminum radiators and they have many different shapes and sizes. I put one in my V8 Pinto with a hipo electric fan and have had no cooling problems. Minor modifications are required. Check out at Summit or Jegs mail order. Joe

Sorry for the late reply. redmustangman3 thanks for the reply but that sounds too expensive for me. mrpinto, any chance i could get a photo of the vw rad? I was reading the v8 swap faq and came across this post

if you need a rad that will stand up to a v/8. the early ranger v/6 with a/c is a 3 core crossflow small enough to fit in the pinto. we use them on all our mini-stocks and the pro-street pinto we have.it has kept a 351 w. cool on a hot texas day. but it does take some fabrication skills to build a mount for it. hope this helps
Does anyone know any more about this setup or have pics? Because i could get one of those brand new for half the price of a mustang ii radiator.
