Yes, and that yellow 71 is SWEET.

Did you notice the plastic panel under the front bumper? I never had a 74, did not know they had that.

Hey Bill:

Yup, not sure why the person didn't take better and more pictures of the 71?

Yeah Bill, I noticed it too.  My 73 has that.  I just assumed it was because mine is an A/C car, but this 74 is a non-A/C.  I am stumped.  Maybe heavy-duty cooling option?  Dealer install maybe because it has an auto?

Was this '74 not listed a few years ago on ebay? I remember seeing it, not only on Ebay, & here, but, in Road&Track magazine. There was a bit of a debate over the way the odometer lines up.

I know that in MA you need a "safety inspection" every year, and IF you have all those reports, you have good evidence of your true mileage.

I agree, it looks off.

That green '74 was on ebay in the fall of 2004.  That is the one that got the dream started for me.  After I let that one slip by. I knew I had to have one again.

One more thing.  My plain Jane '74 does not have A/C but it does have that shield.

Next one to watch is the pretty little blue 72 on there now.

I really like that color, I may have to paint my truck that shade of blue instead of baby blue like I had originally planned.

Hello Doug,
Yes a decent Pinto "EXCEPT" look at the rock chips on the body side moulding and then look at the body in the wheel well photo.
The trim has rock dammage and paint does not!??? Hmmm!!!\
"90% original paint" WHERE??? Under the repaint????
Also look closely at the brake pedal it looks like it has worn through the rubber pad.
The seller says that it has only recieved a T-belt change but the Air cleaner assy. and charcol canister have been repainted.
Still a decent Pinto but not worth the reserve they are asking.

I agree with Tony.

Why have the best photo the one of the spare tire??

The seller ( 72pinto27, item #270103433038 )claims that it is currently 2006, maybe the seller is mistaken about the year the undercoating was done too.

Seems like a re-list, maybe ebay removed it last time for it not being listed as a "car" (like now). Kind of seems odd that he would mention that $100. would cover his listing fees; yes, it would, but with $95. to spare (Who is the "Mr Scammer"?).

Bill

BTW: Did 72's have sport mirrors from the factory?

Hey Bill,
Good Points there!!!
The 1972 Pinto was available with the sports mirrors but only with the sports accent group cars.
The pass. mirror was manual.
I have asked for more photos of this Pinto but have not heard back yet...

P.S. I'm not slamming this Pinto... But the ad does raise some eyebrows...

I didn't notice the trim damage until I turned my screen size to 600x800.  Still hard to see those tiny little pictures, even at low res.

I would like to know what happened to the factory center console (coin tray), and I also noticed the air cleaner and canister re-spray, but just figured it was because of surface rust.  You can see the rust starting to peek through around the core support extensions.

Also, what is that little red light in the middle of the dash to the right of the heater control?  Tony, Is that an early model thing?  None of my later models have had that, and I can't remember if there's one on my 73.

I still like the color.  That is my favorite color for a Pinto, right after the bright red my 78 sedan is and the shade of green My 77 MII is.

Hello Doug,
The light is the seat belt warning light and the early Pinto had a cardboard console. That is what this Pinto is supposed to have. The very early Pinto did not have anything under the dash.
Not even the metal ears for the u shaped steel piece that holds the console.
From Pintony
P.S. the RH mirror is an "add on" as this Pinto does not have the sports package.
Also MUST be a late 72 because it has the 73-UP style door pulls...
