I cant seem to get the outter tie rod ends to screw onto one of the inner tie rod ends of my new rack and pinion i bought. The outter tie rod ends on it are pretty much gone and since i go on the highway alot, i dont want to be on the road when one of them breaks. Thats a good way to die right there. Im 21... got alot of life ahead of me. lol. Anyways, Both the outters will screw onto one of the inners but not the other inner. This tells me the threads are boogered up on that one inner tie rod end. I cant seem to find a tap that fits it. 1/2", M13, and M14 dont seem to work. Ive tired both M14x2.00 (Coarse)  and M14x1.50 (Fine) dies. I tried screwing on a 14MM fine nut, a 1/2" fine nut, and a 9/16 fine nut and none of those fit on either tie rod. Im kind of at a loss here, i dont think either one has reverse threads, and im pretty sure it has fine threads so...does anyone KNOW the size? Would be alot easier for me to ask before i try any further. I already spent $15 in that one M14x1.50 die and had to order it and swore it was the right one.. but it apparently isnt because it doesnt want to fit. Any help appreciated. Thx guys :)

go to the store and buy yourself a couple of thread pitch gauges.  they're not too expensive.  then go through the different gages and determine what you have.  it might be cheaper in the long run to find out for sure what you are working with before going out and spending money on what you may end up not needing

GO TO THE NUT AND BOLT STORE OF YOUR CHOICE, WITH YOUR TIEROD END.
DETERMINE THE SIZE BOLT THAT WILL THREAD INTO IT, AND THEN BUY A DIE THAT
SIZE. TA-DA!!

i happened to have an old tie rod end laying around and took an SAE tap and die set to it and discovered it is a 9/16" national fine (18 threads per inch). So... ive got it fixed now. Just need to install it on the car ;D
