I have a 8" rear, not sure exactly what it was out of. A Maverick I. It has 4 stud brake drums that have been cut out to fit 5 lug. I want to buy new drums but I'm not sure what to ask for. I measured the drums and they are 9" measured on the inside (where the shoes go) or 10" measured from the very outside. And they are 2" deep measuring where the shoes sit.
Are these considered 9" or 10" drums?
That would be a 9" drum.
Exellent. Very much appreciated.
Anyone know what cars used this size brake drum? Having a hard time finding drums for this thing.
If I am reading this correctly, you are saying that the rear was converted from 4 lug to 5 lug, and you are looking for a DIRECT application for a "replacement" set of 5 lug drums?

Well that's the thing. I'm not 100% sure. I "think" the rear is originaly a 5 lug rear and the last guy who owned it used 4 lug drums, and cut out more holes to fit the 5. I just need a pair of 9" 5x4.5 brake drums and not sure what cars came with them so I can order a set.
Maybe get a set of 4 lugs and get them drilled??
The MOST CRITICAL thing is that the CENTER HOLE is correct; that's what centers the drum on the hub. The next is the offset/width.
Here's a wrech for the works: Ford had some 8" that were 4 lug, but unlike the Pinto's 4.25", they were a 4.5". This would make converting these drums to 5 on 4.5" VERY easy.
I don't know of an application for a 5 lug 9" drum. Maybe an autoparts place....

Try 90 Ranger to see if it has the same center hole.
