Post by: drive80pinto on February 27, 2007, 03:24:48 PM
I bought this pinto over the summer and started to work on it i got most of the engine done and was thinking of putting in a 4speed and car now has the automatic C4 i was also looking into throwing in the 5speed in the early 80s mustang, does anyone know if this will fit nicely?

Ive heard that the throwout bearing arm is longer so you have to widen the transmission tunnel.

This is a good first place to look for that info.

Personally, I'd stay with the C-4. I've got an '80 Pony I'm putting a 460 into. If your worried that a C-4 won't handle it, Performace Automotive has a tranny that will fit the bill for any combo that you can think of. These trannies come in # diff. sizes. Anything from 450 HP to a 1000HP (the 1000hp tranny also has a lifetime warranty).

I've put Two T-5 Trannys in Pinto's and I din't have to widen any Tranny Tunnel for the Clutch Fork.
