Hey guys,
I have never seen a muffler heat shield on a Pinto. They must have started this in at least 1979. My build sheet even has a check mark for 'Muffler Heat Shield'. As far as I know, this had nothing to do with the recall for the fuel tank, Campaign 293. I can see this shield in place on 1980 and 1979 cars in new car brochures I have for each year, but nothing sighted before 1979.
Anyone have any experience with this?

Hello Dave,
I have some NOS shields for the converters but NONE for the muffler.
Not collecting the later Pintos, I have never seen this shield./
