I recently replaced my whole fuel indication system.  I purchased parts from SunPro.  I don't have the numbers handy, but I can find them...

I punched a hole in the top of the tank for the sending unit and ran wires to the front for the new fuel gage.  The only problem I'm having is ~1/4 and below, the sloshing and splashing inside the tank make the needle bounce a good bit, but it is a WONDERFUL feeling to be able to see what's in the tank without all the guesswork!!

p84, have you found the answer?  Have you actually had both and compared them side by side?

On a side note, is there a difference between the early Pintos and the later Pintos as far as the sending unit goes...i.e. number of lines, diameter, depth, etc.  If the later ones had a return line and the early ones do not, then wouldn't the Mustang S.U. pretty much be a direct replacement?  I am kinda excited about this possibility, but also don't want to get too many hopes up without ALL the facts.
