Hey Guys
I race a 76 pinto chassis with a 97 probe body in the Texas Pro sedan series, The Fastest 4 cylinders in Texas. Our race director favors VW drivers so us Ford drivers are trying to play catch up. To lower rotational mass I want to get a lightweight driveshaft. Does anyone know of a lightweight driveshaft available for a 76 pinto or one of its length?
Thanks
Josh
I bought my 73 from a friend of mine. He used an aluminum driveshaft off a Aerostar van that he paid $15 for from the local u-pull it. The tube is larger in diameter than the stock Pinto driveshaft but that should not mater unless your car is super low. One of the u-joint ends is pressed in via some splines. All you need to do is cut to length and press the end back in. He had it welded to be sure it did not move. I am not sure if he had it balanced after it was done but so far I have not noticed any vibration.
