Title: 1.6 interchangeability?
Post by: gregb on February 10, 2007, 06:43:57 AM
I have searched the net and this site, but have not been able to find an answer, so I am here to ask the pro's!

I have a skidsteer that someone put a 71-73 1.6 liter pinto motor in.  I threw a rod.  The block casing numbers are 711M6015BA.

What I wanted to know is if anyone knows if there are any other motors of that physical size that have the same tranny bolt patterns?  Or any other ideas.

I found a 1979 fiesta 1.6 liter, although the block casting numbers are 771M--- would these be interchangable?

Also, if anyone has a running pinto 1.6 motor for a reasonable price, I would be interested in buying it.

HELLO gregb,
tHE 2.0ohc HAS THE SAME BELL BOLT PATTERN. & same mounting lugs on block.
However it is a bit larger than the 1.6.
The fiesta block would work if you used your cylinder head.
The Cortinas have a 1.6 engine go ask them. They should know all the details
