I don't know what all has been done to the car. In fact, it has been sitting for 20 years. What i do know is that it has a 289 in it.
I'm actually talking to my dad tomorrow about buying the car from him to use in the GRM $2007 Challenge. I want to rebuild the 289. In the future I'd like a 302 but I don't want to go any larger. I'm interested in a stroker.
Right now my main concern is rebuilding the engine and figuring out what I can do for suspension mods.
I'll post more later. Right now I'm mainly lurking on the site but I thought I'd throw up a quick message.
Hello Nebraska2000ES,
:welcome:
Looks like a great start!

I never thought that much of a V-8 conversion in Runabouts or Sedans.
But Wagons is another story, I feel that they were made for it.
It looks as though you have struck gold. Would love to find an early model to do just that.
Best wishes for your project !
Al
Everything about that car is cool, I hope you go forward with it.
Nebraska2000es,
How about some more pictures, like under the hood, under the front end and some interior shots.

I WONDER WHAT COLOR IT IS WITH OUT ALL THAT DIRT, IM JUST KIDDNG THATS A REAL GOOD LOOKING CAR THERE, AND A REAL GOOD START. BY THE WAY THE 289 IS A REAL GOOD MOTOR, I WOULD LOOK INTO FIX'N THAT ONE AND LET HER BE, THERE ARE ONLY 4 CUBIC INCHES DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO AND THE 289 WILL GET THE RPM,S FASTER THAN THE 302. I WOULD LOOK INTO FINDING SOME OF THE HI-PO PARTS OR THEIR EQUIVELENTS. THE 289 HI-PO OUT OF THE 65 MUSTANG HAD 289 HP WHEN THE NEWER 302 S ONLY HAD 225 HP OR CLOSE TO THAT ANY WAY, SO WEIGH YOUR OPTIONS CARFULLY. AND JUST SO YOU KNOW MOST OF THE HI-PO PARTS ARE AVALABLE IN A LOT OF THE MUSTANG MAGS AND ARE ALL REPRODUCTION PARTS MADE WITH TTHE NEWER TECHNOLOGY THAT WE HAVE TODAY. GOOD LUCK WITH IT! JOE
I agree. I would stay with the 289.
