Title: Help i can't get my Pinto to start and run in the cold weather

 ??? i need help to get my pinto to run. when i start it wont stay running it sputters and spits. can anyone tell me what the problem is?

is this a cold weather only thing?... if so you may have a problem with the choke not working properly.
can you keep it running by holding the gas pedal down a bit?
could you have water in your gas?
Fords are known for being "cold natured", not idling to well until they've run a few minutes.

Runabout74,
        I am not now nor have I ever had a ford with a good choke. I always remove or disable them in the open position. Properly tune the car and use the accelerator squirt to start the car, keep it running for a few secs and it will idle like a champ till warm. They don't open right they fowl the plugs and so on and so on. If that is the problem do yourself a favor and pull that thing out by the roots.

I do not consider myself to be an expert, but my car was difficult to start too and choke never worked.
When I got my carburetor cleaned and tuned, things got much better.
