Hello all..im new to the forum..Im looking to start a new project.I have a line on 2 different pinto's.They are both 79's..I have a extra motor from a Tbird supercoupe which is a Supercharged 3.8 V6..Im looking to purchace one of the pinto's and do a motor/trans swap and turn it into a drag car...Anyone know if they are some mounts that will bolt up without any modifications? would like to get ahold of some solid(steal) mounts as vibration want be a concern. Are they any headers avail for this or could some shorty's from a tbird work?would rather have long tubes though...any suggestions /recomendations would be helpfull..Thanks in advance..

I looked into the S/C swap but decided against it. Not to say that it can't be done or that I could not do it, but I found that I would either have to do a dry sump pan or re-locate the crossmember, and I was not sure I could get it to fit under the hood (I hate non-factory hood scoops).
Maybe someday I will atempt it, but finding a good running donor is not that easy, and those are not the most durable engines Ford made.
As far as modifications, ANY 'swap' (2.0, 2.3EFI, 2.3T, 3.8, V8,...) will need custom fabrication somewhere. As far as I know the only aftermarket parts that 'were' made for engines that were not offered in a Pinto are for V8 swaps, but they are getting harder to find.

98BlueOval,
If you have two cars to choose from for your project then choose the one that had the v6 in it especially if your going to do the v8. Reason??? Already has the heavy front suspension and it has the 8" rearend.
