Title: 351W headers
Post by: mrpinto on January 13, 2007, 07:00:43 AM
I decided I'm going to go with a 351W instead of putting the 302 back in.

Is there ANY way in heck the 302 headers will work with a 351W? Is there ANY possible way I can modify them to work?? If not, how hard are the 351W headers to find, and install?

The 302 headers "should" work on a 351. It basicly the same engine just a bit taller deck height, making the engine a bit wider and taller. Will depend on the clearances.

:fastcar:Are you talking stock 351 W headers here or  tubular aftermarket headers?  I could not find the clearance for  stock 351 headers on my 302 engine

The headers I'm using with the 302 are Mustang II/ Pinto swap headers. Hedman I think. They work really well, but I'm concerned with the added size of the 351w (soon to be 408) that there won't be enough clearance to use them.

The 351W swap headers are in multiple pieces that go inside and outside the frame and join back up underneath the car.

Just wondering if the 302 headers can be modified in any way to fit. ???

:fastcar:So how much metal cutting did you end up doing to fit those Hedmans around the frame,?
