Here is a pic of the panels I am going to install in my pinto. My question is, what else do I need to install these panels into a standard/non-cruiser wagon? You can't see them in the pic but the drip rail extensions are there as well. I know I am missing the interior trim rings. Also these little metal pieces, (in the pic 2), came with the panels, what are they, how are they installed and do I need more of them? I have searched past post and cannot find any discussing the topic of panel installation. I found some that discussed removal, but none on how to install them in a non-cruiser wagon pinto. I would really like to have some general knowledge of the process to draw from, before I start ripping out the rear windows. Thanks for all the help.

Well, I have only removed them from cars and have yet to install them on a regular wagon. It has been about 4 years since I removed the panels. Those brackets in pic two are not familar to me. There are some brackets that are spot welded to factory crusing wagons that help attach the interior trim panels. Unfortunately I sold my spare brackets last year and no longer have a picture of them. Do you have those? Also do you have the outer trim that covers the screws?
Take a look at this auction. Pictured are the brackets that I was talking about as well as the trim covers however this guy is showing on the rear covers and not the side. He also has a picture of the car with the panels off. Maybe he can take some more for you?

Hello Holistic, the parts in the second picture look like the plates used to help position the windshield on the cars using the rubber gasket.Installing the panels is pretty straight forward nice if you have the drip rail extensions and the brackets to hold the inner rugs,as these are nice to install before the panels.Once the glass is out I usually take the chrome trim and welded rivets that hold the trim pieces off. Then position the outer panels to get an idea of how high the drip rail extensions want to be to look good and fit good. Then screw the drip rail extensions onto the body, reposition the outer panels onto the body screw the back screws in along the rear four holes then clamp the panel to the window inner edge with vice grips to check you do not have bad waves and bends from pulling the panel to the window inner edge. When happy with fit and look of panel looking down the side, put in a couple of front edge screws, then start drilling holes to screw the panels along to the inner edge, checkig after each screw to ensure no warps.
Thanks for the help guys. This helps me out alot. After looking at that ebay link I discovered what I thought was drip rail extensions is actually the trim pieces that cover the screws. And no I do not have the brackets for the interior panels. I guess I will be posting in the parts wanted section of the forum. Thanks again
