Title: turbo 2.3 setup
Post by: techteacher on December 31, 2006, 11:12:20 PM
Can somebody send me a picture (or 2) of a production turbo setup.  I am putting a turbo engine together from parts and pieces and am having questions about oil return to the base.  Ford pics seem to indicate that oil line returns to fitting next to the oil filter - but the turbo is on the other side of engine -

From what I have noticed people doing is to tap into the block same side as the turbo, there should be a plug there. You may have to tap it if its not a turbo block. Some have even went to the oil pan or opened up the extra dipstick plug but I personally would open the plug on the block. Its close to the turbo and will help keep the turbo cool. I have read that you dont want to make the turbo work to hard on getting the oil back out. The block should have a plug close to the back side around mid engine. Hope this helps.
