CAN YOU TELL THE 28 SPLINE FROM 31 SPLINE BY LOOKING AT THE END OF AXLE?
WAS TOLD THAT IF THE END HAS large oval dent on end of axle = 28 spline
If there are lathe centers & 2 drive pin holes = 31 spline
If this is correct could someone post photos of both or at least the 28 spline Thanks!
Hello superman88,
You have been MIS-INFORMED!!!
The Ford 8" rear never came with anything BUT 28 spline axels.
Gotta go now!! Me and my buddies are going "SNIPE" hunting!!! ;D
Hope I get a 10 pointer!!! :iloveu:

100% correct there Tony, however the simple answer is "Yes" (if it fits in the 8" housing/carrier, it's a 28 spline).
Check out the FAQ section for the thread on these axles.
Welcome.
Bill
