I have heard somewhere that somebody had put off-the self Aerostar Van rotors and bearings on a pinto to convert from 4 lug to 5 lug. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? If this is a real swap, what parts would I need? I am planning to put an 8.8 in the rear so off-the-shelf rotors and bearings would great.
never heard of that, im not exactly sure, but i think some mustang rotors and bearings would work. :sorry: id check with someone higher than myself. otherwise, i dont know what to tell you, except for give it a shot, but if it dont work, youve wasted money. :text_yb_warning:
I know over the counter is important but I dont think you can beat the price of HOT RODDER calipars for the mustang II front swaps... two rotors in a small Ford bolt pattern for 80$... if you went to AutoZone or Orielys you would pay more than that for a pair...to boot they work with your stock Pinto front brakes (74 and up models) with no mods.
If your looking for bigger brakes you can go with a granda rotor and use the stock bearings...that will give you a 11 inch rotor. but you will need to buy or build a aftermarket calipar addapter..
I havent hear about the Arrowstar but if it was narrowed down a little I could research the bearings...if I'm not mistakin the Arrowstar althow a mini van it was based on a car chassi, wich might widen the prospects of parts.
Best of Luck

Well from what I have heard is the Aerostar rotor is the same as the Pinto except for the rear bearing and seal which of course wouldn't effect the brakes at all. The only thing would be to find is an inside bearing and seal to match the Pinto spindle which I have heard is no big deal except for actually doing the searching. I was just wondering if anybody has heard of this or even done it and has the bearing and seal numbers to save me some time. Also FCANON I want to say it was a 1995 Aerostar that was refered to.
The Aerostar rotor is NOT the same Dia as the 74-UP Pinto.

I tried to find the web site that talked about the aerostar rotors but it brings up about 15,000 sites doing the search and I got tried. I'll keep trying. It's been quit awhile since I read it and I'm sure I got some of my facts wrong. Hopefully I can find it.
