My temperature gauge has never worked in my cruising wagon since I have owned it. When I pulled the engine, I think I found out why. The plug connection has broke off and the wires were dangling into space. This plug looks like it went to the oil pressure sensor, temp gauge, and choke. have another plug that am going to butt connector in but I do not know which wire goes where? I thought I could use my 79 Bobcat as a guide but the harness is different. Can someone help me please? This is one of the last things I need to fix before I install the motor. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
The Ford manual is a little confusing here for the sports option. It looks like this is connector C108. Since you only have 3 wires I assume it is a 4 cylinder. The oil pressure switch should be a white wire with a red stripe. The temperature gauge sender should be a red wire with a white stripe. I could not locate a third wire in the manual. The 6 cylinder has 3 additional wires in this connector for the carb solenoid (2 red wires with a light blue stripes spliced together at the connector C108 and 1 red wire with yellow hash marks). Hope this helps.
Thanks, it should help. I will take a look at it this evening.
Also, just in case the engine has been swapped, make sure that you have the temp sending unit for a temperature gauge installed, and NOT one for a light.
