I have the rear from a Mustang II with 3L00 gears. When I spin the wheels there is a "Clicking" sound coming from the center. The dirvers side axle has vertually no slop, the passenger side has about a 1/4" slop from side to side when turning. Any ideas what the noise might be?
There will be some "feel" or noise of the gears (spider/ring pinion), and there sould be "some" play. If it is exsessive, it MIGHT indicate a bad rear.
"L" as in limited slip?
If the rear is installed, it could be a u-joint.

The problem was my pinion angle. I added a 3 degree wedge and am cruising nice and smooth at 80mph.
WooHoo!
