Hello Folks!
I'm trying to find out some info on a stock pinto driveshaft. Perhaps someone in this group has a driveshaft available to look at.
Anyway I need to know how many internal splines are on the transmission slip-joint (yoke). Also what is the ID and OD of the slip-joint.
I am fitting a type 9 gearbox to my Triumph Spitfire. I'm using a T-9 box out of a Mekur XR4ti. The Mekur driveshaft is not suitable for The Spitfire aplication, however I understand that a Pinto driveshaft may be a good substitute.
Anybody willing to help?
Thanks
Jim ;D
is the car 2.3 turbo powered!? The T-9 is a pretty feable tranny when pounded on with any kind of HP. As for the driveshaft i can't really tell you, as my car is put away for the winter but i'm sure someone will have an answer for you! Welcome to the site! Jeff
Hi 'ya,
I machined an adapter plate to mate the Triumph 1500 engine to the T-9 transmission.
Even though the T-9 is not exactly the strongest trans, it is certanly much stronger than the Triumph 4spd.
The Triumph engine puts out 70 to 75 HP.
The Triumph has a 4.10 rear and only a 4 spd. The engine screems on the highway (4000+rpm)
Hopefully I can get a driveshaft built before spring! :D

OK the T-9 will last a good long time with those HP numbers! ;D I'll ask around for you as i'm on a couple of other boards that deal with the T-9 also.
Ihave a driveshaft from a 78 that I am going to use in my 77. The yoke has 25 splines, is approx. 1.375" o.d., and 1" i.d. Hope this helps.
Awesome! ... I'll double check my tranny and see if that is close enough.!
Thanks :D
Jim
