Hey Shawn,
Too many projects ahead of this one...
I just want it for the engine.
IF the body is not too bad I may throw a quickie paint job and use it for a daily driver for a while.

Hello Dave,
I sent High-Horse a PM.
Have not heard back...
Hope to meet up with him when I go.
It looks as of now I will be skipping the Columbus swap to make the trip.
I would like to delay the trip to W.K. untill the next week so I can do C. Ohio and the trip to get the Pinto.
I'll LYK.

Hello R4pinto,
I am sorry but at this moment it looks as if I will not be making the Columbus swap.
The tranny is yours. Will just have to figure another way to deliver.
I am bummed out!
Just BAD timming I guess...

Hey Tony,

A buddy of mine has a 1600, and a manual tranny with it.
What do you figure is the going price for both? Or as seperate items.

I'll be going to see my sister in Tennessee tomorow for Thanksgiving, so I won't be around for awhile.

Enjoy, and Happy Holidays.

Hey  UltimatePinto,
I sold a few 1600cc engines to caterham.
The last I heard that California had changed the way they were
interpreting the smog law and they no longer needed the the pushrod 1.6.
Maybe they just found a cheeper source????

I just want it to mess around with the 1.6.+ with it being a 1973 Pinto it has parts that I need for many projects.

what diameter pipe did they use on your exhaust system?
Title: Re: Pintony's 1600 Pinto
Post by: High_Horse on December 09, 2006, 02:04:54 AM
Pintony,
The car looks good. The sound the car made when you first started it up sounded normal to me. Are you saying that it still sounds that way even after the new exhaust? It would be nice to have that car absolutly silent when it is running. Seeing as how that car was not originally equiped with a catilytic converter and how a small pipe of fairly thick gauge would tend to transmit sonic resenance comparable to a wet string between two dixie cups.......I would probably try to install a resonator somewhere under there. But seeing that I,m the kind of Horse that would not want to restrict flow then I might try an expantion chamber of about 2-2.5 DIA. BY 24"long wrapped tightly with some good quality braided heat tape a couple of layers thick to absorb/transfuse the shock waves.

Title: Re: Pintony's 1600 Pinto

Before I blocked my de-acceleration valve it would set-up a harmonic noise in the exhaust system between shifts and when slowing down.   I am sure the valve was not adjusted correctly and was in play too long after letting off the gas.  Either way I wanted to take it off anyway.

im not sure if pegasusautoracing.com   has it for the hedders. i know they have exhaust gaskets for the stock motor. also have you thought of grabbing the intake manifold.2 barrel carb and electronic ignition off a late 77 thru 80 model ford fiesta. just a though. i do have PAR catalog. and they list alot of stuff for the 1.6 . also formula ford international makes  parts that are no longer available otherwise. foot note. my first car was 1971 pinto with 1.6 learned alot from it.

Tony,

Have you picked a color yet?

Here's the two I have:

21/WA227M (GM - Lazer Blue Metalic Clearcoat)  Found on the 05-06 Chevy Equinox.  IMHO, a nice bright blue.

SN/M7095A (Ford - Sonic Blue Pearlcoat) Found on 04 Mustang GTs.  A little darker, deeper blue than the GM color.

hey there pintony, i ran 2 1/4 with a 4x9 turbo muffler in the far rear. its pretty quiet. its on a 2.3 w/heddman header. if you want it a little more silent, use a chrysler resonator where the cat would be. that should get her pretty darn quiet. and like they said, if ya wanna wrap it and that will 4 sher help too.   tony v
