Title: 8-inch rear end gear question
Post by: uncleamin on October 19, 2006, 10:51:14 AM
Hey guys,

We have determined that the 8-inch rear that I'm putting in the pinto is out of a 65 or 66 mustang. When we divided to see what gear I have it came up to be like 3.25. Is this a common gear??....does this sound right? If it is right....would this be a terrible gear for my turbo car. Thanks. - Amin

IMHO: With a T-5, a 3.18 to 3.40 rear is where I would be (am) .

So the 3.25 would be fine for what I'm doing then? I'm just asking b/c I see a of these guys running the 3.73, 4.11, and higher.

Remember the "IMHO" part of what I said. Even with the 3.40's, I go through 1st and 2nd very quick, and it will still do fine at 70MPH.
